MCHENRY COUNTY LIONS YOUTH RUGBY CLUB
The McHenry County Lions Rugby Club is a youth rugby club dedicated to introducing the children and our community to the great sport of rugby. We provide training for boys and girls 6-10 years old in a no-tackle (touch) rugby, and tackle rugby for our co-ed U10 (8-9),U12 (10-11), co-ed U14 (12-13), and HS Boys (14-18). We currently do not have a HS Girls team, but HS girls welcome to practice and start a HS girls team for McHenry.
Our coaches are dedicated to bring a safe, competitive, quality rugby to McHenry County area and teach respect, discipline, and teamwork in the process. Become a lion today!
Why Rugby?
- Lower equipment costs than any other sports... Hockey, Football, Baseball, Lacrosse
- Strong safety initiatives... no blocking, only wrap tackling, no high tackles allowed, taking the head out of tackles.
- Any size, any skill level... no matter what size, large or small, rugby has a position for you.
- There is a strong emphasis on teamwork and respect... for opponents, for referees, for coaches, which are key factors in all athletic endeavors.
